Graduate Program

Multidisciplinary research at the leading-edge of our field

As the newest science department on the IU Bloomington campus, we are dedicated to expanding the understanding of biological processes on a molecular level. We are located in Simon Hall, which is situated between buildings that house research happening in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Medical Sciences and Physics. This location represents our commitment to the interdisciplinary scope of our department and offers easy access for collaboration with our scientific colleagues in the College.

Our multidisciplinary approach teaches students to investigate and address a variety of biological questions. The curriculum provides fundamental graduate-level training and flexibility to suit your research interests, with a focus on three primary areas: Genome Biochemistry, Supramolecular Complexes, and Chemical and Physical Biology. Our students conduct research in well-equipped laboratories using state-of-the-art instrumentation and study with scientists who are leaders in their fields.
